Wipro is the only Indian company to win an award in this year's Corporate University Xchange (CorpU).

The technology company won the best practice award in the corporate/college category, in part due to setting up the Wipro Academy of Software Excellence (WASE).

Selvan D, senior vice president of talent transformation at Wipro, said: "This is a testimony to Wipro's belief in innovative practices. WASE and WASEians are synonymous with innovation, collaboration and enthusiasm. I am really proud of this unique global recognition."

The annual excellence and innovation in corporate learning awards rewards both private and government organisations, that provide "exciting, impactful programs" to improve employee's performance.

Sue Todd, president and chief executive officer of CorpU, said: "Each of these winning programs has a measurable impact on a company’s ability to execute their business strategy."

The number of companies competing this year increased by 35 per cent on the pervious awards, meaning competition was fiercer.

Wipro was recently selected from 25 IT vendors for a new business award for its partnership with Credit Suisse.
