Head of legal at consumer body Which? has left his position in a dispute over the direction of the organisation, it has been reported.
Complaining that Which? is unwilling to reassess and reform its services, Gordon Wilson left the organisation, despite not having a second job to go to.
Mr Wilson, head of Which? Legal Service was reported to have been in disagreement with Martin Webster, finance and operations director at the group, who had objected to making changes to Which?'s legal information.
One source close to the pair at Which? told Lawyer.com "With the Legal Services Act coming in, Gordon thought Which? had a lot of potential to radicalise its service, but apparently Webster is happy for it to carry on ticking over.
"For Gordon, being a caretaker was just not good enough."
A spokesperson at Which? has however refuted such speculation: "There was no longstanding ¬disagreement between ¬Martin and Gordon at all.
"Gordon had only been with Which? for a year, so that's not the case."
Mr Webster will now continue to manage the company's Legal Services, and the recruits are now being fielded for the position of head of legal at Which?.
