The Doxford International call centre already employs 1,600 people and the addition of the advice centre will add to that.
It is the first time the bank will provide customers with advice over the phone rather than face to face and Barclays head of premium segments Alan Lonmuir is enthused by the prospect.
"The Financial Planning Telephone Advice Team is an exciting new venture and a first for Barclays," he said.
"We are looking to recruit the best talent in the industry to provide a telephone-based financial planning service to our customers, allowing them to discuss their financial needs at a time and in a way most suitable to their lifestyle."
The centre will offer jobs in financial planning and sales among others and as well as substantial bonuses, salaries will range from £13,345 for agents to £28,800 for managers.
